Sound Testing Service

Trim Acoustics can offer pre-completion sound insulation testing in compliance with Document E of the Building Regulations. The tests are carried out in accordance with BS EN ISO 140-4:1998, BS EN ISO 140-7:1998, BS EN ISO 717-1:1997 and BS EN ISO 717-2:1997, by an acoustic engineer who is a Technician Member of the Institute of Acoustics. The test report also meets Document E requirements and is usually dispatched within two working days.

The test is conducted using the Norsonic wireless Building Acoustics System. Norsonic have been developing high-precision acoustic instrumentation for more than 40 years and are recognised as one of the leading and most innovative organisations in this field. The benefits of using the wireless system are:-

  It allows remote operation, thereby ensuring that measurement data is not compromised by the presence of personnel in the test room

 The use of separate microphones in both the source and receiving room enables simultaneous level measurement

 Eliminates flanking paths caused by cable penetration into the test rooms

 Accelerates the measurement process, thereby minimising site ‘down-time’.

This system is purpose-designed to optimise the accuracy and integrity of the test result.
